Norms and Standards for the Treatment of Organic Waste

The National Norms and Standards for the Treatment of Organic Waste [Click] have been promulgated (GN 1984 of 2022). These N&S should reduce regulatory barriers for a wide range of treatment solutions processing predefined organic waste streams.

These N&S are applicable to facilities processing in excess of 10t/d.

African Biodigester Component (Kenya) - call for expression of interest

The EnDev - African Biodigester Component (ABC) aims to support the growth and sustainability of a commercial biodigester sector in Sub-Saharan Africa. The intervention will result in the installation of at least 50,000 small scale biodigesters by 2025 across Burkina Faso, Kenya, Mali, Niger and Uganda providing energy access for at least 250,000 people.

The ABC intervention in Kenya (2022 to 2025) aims at facilitating a shift of the biodigester market from its pioneering to the expansion phase with a focus on the installation of over 20,000 domestic and 250 commercial scale biodigesters. The project is implemented by a consortium of GIZ and SNV in partnership with ABPL (ex-KBP).
